The side-project of Philadelphia-based bassist Dave Hartley (The War on Drugs), the Nightlands moniker produced one of the absolute best records I heard back in 2010- Forget the Mantra. Self-releasing- then quickly inking with his other band’s label, Secretly Canadian- Hartley crafts whimsical, sub-cosmic pop that now, based on the below tune as evidence, seems cleaned up to posses a more straightforward,  70s “AM gold” feel for the LP 2 release, Oak Island.

Oak Island is out today via SC. Nightlands will hit the road with equally good Danish pop act Efterklang  later this week; dates below.
