Comprised of brothers Bryan and Douglass Enas, Stagnant Pools are from Bloomington, Indiana and make muddy, swirling post/gaze rock. Polyvinyl will release their debut, Temporary Room on August 7th. You can catch the pair supporting School of Seven Bells on their upcoming tour.

Canada’s Germany Germany is the production name for Drew Harris, a student at University of Victoria, who has been making atmospheric and dozed electronic music since 201o. “Substance” is off his latest set,Blank Mind, Empty Heart, which dropped earlier this month. New York’s Dream Affair return with their true-to-form take on gothic rock, following the fantastic All I Want EP and their LP, Endless Days (Avant!).

A Brooklyn duo, Opal Onyx make slow-growing, synth-backed gothic (folk? classical?) rock (they call it “Psychedelic-Industrial-Soul”) that reminds of Chelsea Wolfe and at times Portishead. Singer Sarah Nowicki cannot be missed. They are apparently finishing work on a new album and currently have an older one for free on their Bandcamp.
